Deck staining and sealing in Beaverton, OR

Decks, fences and doors sealed against moisture and sun, so the grain stays warm instead of going silver-gray.

Untreated wood in Oregon goes gray, then soft, then it starts costing real money. The gray is UV breaking down the surface of the fibers; the soft part is water that got in behind it. Stain and sealer are what slow both down, and they only work if the wood underneath is clean and genuinely dry when they go on.

That last point is where most deck jobs go wrong. A deck washed on Saturday and sealed on Sunday traps the water it just absorbed. We build drying time into the schedule instead of pretending it does not exist.

What is included

  • Decks and railings

Washed, allowed to dry, then stained or sealed — including the rail caps and the top edges of boards, which take the most sun and fail first.

  • Fences and gates

Both sides where access allows, with the posts and bottom rails given attention since that is where ground moisture works upward.

  • Front doors and trim

Stained wood entry doors stripped back where needed and refinished, rather than painted over.

  • Transparent, semi or solid

We walk through the trade-off with you: more pigment means more UV protection and less visible grain. There is no single right answer, only the one that matches how the wood already looks.

  • Board check

While we wash, we find the soft boards and loose fasteners. You get told about them whether or not we are the ones fixing them.

How the job goes

  1. 01

    Free estimate

We look at the wood, the exposure and the condition of the existing finish, and give you a written number.

  2. 02

    Clean

Moss, mildew, old flaking finish and mill glaze come off. Stain will not bond through any of it.

  3. 03

    Dry

The wood gets the time it needs. Sealing wet wood is the single most common reason a deck finish fails within a year.

  4. 04

    Stain and seal

Applied in the right weather window, worked into the end grain and the joints, and left to cure before the furniture goes back.
